This new Kendra Scott ring. And this new Essie color - "Miss Fancy Pants" it is reminiscent of "Chinchilly," one of my all time fave grays. I love both of these things.

I bought this color for my sister - "Smokin Hot." As if she has time in her life to paint her nails anymore. Speaking of my sister. Her son, my new nephew, is just darling. He is now 5 weeks old and I spent all day yesterday snuggling him.

A pretty new dress from Anthropology. To wear to my high school reunion this weekend. 10 years. Meep.


A plane ticket to NYC. To visit my friends and my city. After Rachel Berry sang "In a New York State of Mind" on Glee last week, and I may or may not have had tears in my eyes, I promptly texted BFF Bethany and booked a flight for October. New York fall, here I come!


An iPhone 5. Because my iPhone 4 was a required purchase 2 years ago after an iPhone 3G-lost-in-SoHo-tragedy. And it just hasn't been the same since this catastrophic pedicure day last December. I got a white one. Judge if you will, but I like the white. It will match my iPad and my MacBook. I like to coordinate. And it will be here in 3 weeks. Which is just fine with me and requires no extra effort on my end. Been there, done that. 4 years ago. At 5:30am. I'm older and wiser now.

Unfair Influences

Here are the facts --

Lauren
I like freshly polished finger nails. I paint my nails at least once a week. (at least I'm not getting weekly manicures!) I am particularly fond of Essie nail polish and you'll never catch me with a color I can't name on my nails.

Leslee
She likes statement earrings. Lately, she's loving Austin designer Kendra Scott jewelry and typically checks the online sales every week...just in case there is something she needs.

a) We both have weekly "routines" related to the above.
b) Les bought me a great pair of purple Kendra Scott earrings for my birthday last summer. (loved them!)
c) I bought her Essie Chinchilly nail polish a few Thanksgiving's ago.
d) Les judged me for painting my nails "like every day!"
e) I judged her for "ohhhh, look at these!" every day.
f) We now live in very close quarters. And things (like the above) that we once used to gchat / text about, can now be seen / discussed in person. Natural influences, right?

So what started as perfectly innocent individual preferences, has now progressed into mutual influences.

HOWEVER. Two key facts to note...

g) Essie nail polish is $8 per bottle.
h) Kendra Scott gems are upwards of $45 PER PAIR. (when on SALE via Gilt / kendrascott.com)

Ummm...just me or does this sisterly "influence" affect me sliiiightly more negatively than my nail polish issues rubbing off on her??

After 4 months, this is our combined stash...we have problems.

And this is my most recent polish love - Cocktail Bling. From the Essie winter collection. Good, right?

melanie and neil. melanie is my fave this season. neil is one of my all time faves. she's amazing. he's amazing. together they are really amazing. (he's not so bad without his shirt on either, huh? you're welcome for that.)

A Lil Thursday Night Music

Last fall me, Lindsay Ann and Susan went to see singer songwriter, Andrew Belle, at City Winery. Andrew opened for a very tall, very talented, singer songwriter who kind of rocked, Tyrone Wells. We were in love from his first song.

After the concert, we each bought a different album and shared. It didn't take long before we knew every word to every song that he has. Love him.

Last week, Tyrone was back at City Winery and we went back to see him. Turns out, our friends Krista and Vadim are also big fans. Krista walked down the aisle at their wedding to Tyrone's song, Seabreeze.

I'll give you a hint...Tyrone is the tall one.

It was another great concert. Even better this time since we knew the songs and could sing along. And he had Jason Reeves (also awesome!) join him on stage to sing their song -- "Give Me One Reason."

Ohmygosh, it was just so good!!

We met Tyrone afterwards...I think I mentioned something about how great the show was and how I saw him last time he was in town. Hah! We also got our picture taken with him, but it's on Krista's camera.

happy tuesday!

this morning i walked into my cubie area at work and was greeted by these pretty flowers! courtesy of cubemate ryan.

ryan claims that our cubie area is the best of all cubie areas.
because we are fun and we have flowers. we win.

i was so distracted by the pretty flowers on the cabinet between our cubies, that i didn't even notice the pretty flowers he also put on our desks!

ohmygosh! talk about knowing how to make a girl smile! just put pretty gerber daisies on her desk!

mine is pink. naturally.

we like springtime here in nyc. and are desperately wishing it would be here to stay. sadly on this rainy and chilly tuesday, springtime feels very very far away.
ryan and i are also attempting to grow forget-me-nots. so far we have 3 lil sprouts.

we're well on our way to spring!

vintage!

last time i went to texas to visit, i happened upon a few treasures.

pretty pretty vintage treasures.

mom pulled out boxes and boxes of all grandma peggy's jewelery. me, mom and les went through everything. untangling necklaces, matching up earrings and picking out our favorite pieces.

we only argued over a few things...i think.

here's what i ended up with.
a collection of pretty pretty vintage gold necklaces, earrings and rings.

i'm kind of in love with all of it. who would have thought i'd be embracing gold so readily?
i rock a new piece (or maybe 2...) every day. and i get so many compliments.
i love responding with...

"thanks! i got it from my grandma peggy's jewelery box"

it makes each piece so much more special because it was hers. and it has a story.


oh! also found this mirror at the top of mom's closet. mom! why are you holding back all the good stuff?

the mirror was clearly doing no good in her closet. i packed it up bubble wrap and brought it right back home with me. along with a similar oval tray she'd also been hiding.

it looks quite perfect on my vanity, no?
